At all these events nowadays, especially ones like last weekend’s RACEISM Event in Opole, there’s way too many nice cars on show. It’s almost impossible to pick a favourite one out of all these top builds, having European elite, a selection of undeniably the best cars around parked next to each other. Events like RACEISM are nothing else but Wörthersee in a pill. It is pure automotive porn that has the capacity to make any petrol-head’s heart beat speed up. A lot!
It was 4:20am when I got home from Oppeln, a.k.a Opole in Silesia, south-west Poland where the undeniably the best “stance” event in this part of Europe is taking place this weekend. The fact that this year’s edition is located only 47km north-west from my hometown, was the number one reason I have decided to join and see what’s on offer.
Not that long time ago, I came home from this magical place in the Alps – Wörthersee. My memory cards, still full of photos I had taken in Austria, and later in Poland, didn’t seem to be ready to record more images. I wasn’t ready either. I got paralyzed by all of these awesome builds I saw, or rather by the result of our randezvous
We’re at an outdoor cinema and all seats are taken. The weather is good. It’s warm, or we’re warmed up by a selection of fine beverages we’ve had since our arrival in Środa Wielkopolska. Everyone has a glass, a bottle or a can in their hand. A few people are standing in behind sipping on some drinks patiently waiting for the show to begin.
Two weeks of hard work to build the Mk2. Two weeks of crap food, lots of stress and “mechanic’s syndrome” – the never ending grease under nails. Recently redeveloped St.James Gate Brewery shone expensively lit by the famous Irish overcast sky. It’s modern cubic architecture only slightly invaded the west end of quays fitting it just perfectly, almost unnoticeable,
I was editing some pictures when the phone rang. It was Shane, “Hey Zuko, what you up to next Sunday?” – he asked. Well, I haven’t got any plans so an invite to the very first Mk3 Meet was accepted immediately and week later we were on the way down the M4 to Lough Ennell where the meet took place.
In just a few days we’ll leave three dope deck-munching cars among trucks on board of a ferry and we’ll sail from Dublin Port to Holyhead – Roll on #24hLeBags! – 2454km+ road trip across the EU to Raceism’s International Stance Fest at Wroclaw’s Stadium and Wolfsgruppe’s VAG Event am Zerkowsee week later.
