Inspired by the quick meet we had, the Cosel Treffen #2, I decided to do something with the local scene so we could have an occasion, time to time, to take the cars out for a bit of craic and a chance to chat. An idea to do something about my boring hometown Kędzierzyn-Koźle. Klasyczne.KK. Classic cars! A new operation in the heimat!
First we wanted to gather the cars at the main square. It’s empty and businesses around it are quite dead too. It’s a perfect location to do something about this weird town, to give people a chance to see something else than they see everyday. To make everyone’s life a little bit more interesting and maybe even inspiring for someone.
No, forget it. That’d be nearly impossible. To do things like that we’d need to somehow dig through the bureaucracy of the state first. I needed a plan B so together with my very good friend, Benek, whom I know from kindergarten, that is nearly 30 years now, we went out for a cruise around the town looking for a perfect spot. Driving in his automatic VW Golf Mk2 we checked all places in town and the best one turned out to be right behind the building of the city council – one of its car parks. Perfect spot with great cold light if we’d like to stay out longer.
Although the parking is public I went out to the local chief of the civic guard to check if we can do that. Their headquarters are located just beside the car park, hiding behind the city council’s building. I never knew they were in there. The chief had some objections, howgh, I just said.
Having the location secured we set the date and with 91 DETAILING and LowCartel helping out – we’ve made the very first meet happen – K.K-K #1. Meanwhile the town was occupied by Prussian and Napoleon’s armies shooting muskets at each other in the staging of the Battle for Festung Cosel.
The town seemed not so boring anymore. For once.
